We've been preparing for a couple of up coming shows:

Little Buffalo Arts Festival
October 3rd
Little Buffalo State Park
Noon- Dusk

Old Home Foliage Days
October 17-18
Port Royal Fair Grounds

We've also been working on some custom orders and generally building our inventory. We're working toward purchasing a new kiln so everything we've been selling has been going to that fund. We're really looking forward to new equipment so that firing can be less labor intensive, and our glazes come out more consistently. Hopefully we can also look forward to experimenting with higher temperature glazes such as crystallines.
Todd is also working with some friends on a wood firing project so that should be fun, maybe we'll break into a whole new addition to the inventory! So come check out what we have at the upcoming shows, there are definitely some new things to come have a look at- and as always art shows offer great gift ideas! Support your local starving artists!

** If you're planning to order some custom work for the gift-giving season, please have your order to us by Thanksgiving so that we can be sure to have it done in time.**

New Venue

Things continue to be a little slow for us at Wildfire Pottery but they haven't stopped yet!! There was not much to report on over the last 4-5 months. With the festivals/fair season underway more will be notable in the upcoming months. One big note is regarding the Mifflin-Juniata Arts Festival which took place this past weekend(16th & 17th). It was a great weekend, except the little bit of rain, but what festival doesn't have some moisture. Sunday there were some sudden winds that caused some nearby artisans to shutter when they heard a set of shelves crashing to the ground sending pottery across the grass. Luckily only 3 pieces were damaged and they were not the best of our show pieces so no harm really. The studio was awarded the 'Best of Clay' award this year, competing against 5 other clay artisans. Also we got our first taste of Raku. There were two small vases included in the Raku demonstration that came out quite nicely.

No other scheduled events at this point, but we are searching for a few to fill out our summer season....
<img width='1' height='1' It always nice to have visitors during a long cold weekend. Anyone who did not get out to see us we have one more event before Christmas. We will be part of the JCAC Home Tour event(December 6) and will be located in the basement of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown. Anyone who would like to browse our inventory but cannot make it out that weekend, give us a call or email and we'll work somehting out. One last note: Any custom order must be placed by Thanksgiving Thursday for us to be able to guarantee delivery by Christmas.

Fall Update

The summer was a busy one both on and off the wheel. We are preparing for our next show: Old Home Foliage Days, October 18-19 at the Port Royal Fair Grounds. Come out see the new items. As always we have a wide selection of pottery and slumped bottles. We will also be displaying in a new way with this show.
We are now making custom crocks for Country Nature Craft Store. If you want a crock of ours come and order one. Country Nature is also planning to be at Foliage Days.
In December the Juniata Cultural Arts Committee will once again be hosting the Home Tour with a craft show/market located in the basement of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown. Many people have seen the sonograms and watched the development of babies and their birth. Unless you work in the maternaty ward of a ceramic equipment manufactor then you probaly have not seen the magical process of how a wheel developes. As you can see in the pictures so far, our is going to be a kick wheel. How nice it will be to have a sibling for our electric wheel. There are only a few pictures so far and we will continue to show the progress, but as you can see it already has formed its fram and parts of the kick mechanism. All that is needed yet is a flywheel and a seat. After some final assembly, it'll be ready for a spin and can play in the mud all it wants.

~ Glass ~

Beginning Spring/Summer 2008 there will be new addition to the studio.
